Detox 101 – Super Simple Detox

By Irina Wardas

Detox and cleanse are very popular words nowadays, especially in spring. Many of us are into detox: we want to try it, we all have opinions how to do it, we like it or we hate it. It might be a recipe for a drink, or a several day procedure, or maybe even fasting, juicing or profound cleansing program with professional help.

First, what is a toxin, anyway? It is basically any substance that creates irritating or harmful effects in the body, which can sometimes even damage our tissues and organs. A lot of people are not aware of the fact that everything we breathe, eat, drink, and even touch, contain toxins; in other words, we can acquire toxins from our environment by breathing them, by ingesting them, or through physical contact with them.

Toxins can be poisons, heavy metals, pesticides, fungicides, cleaning solvents, smog, and many substances that we don’t even know are leeching into our bodies via our clothing our furniture, and even out carpets. Did you know that the worst toxins we can ingest are put into our foods as additives and preservatives?

Our body itself produces toxins through its normal every day functions. Fats, free radicals, different irritating substances act as toxins on the internal level. Our body is very intelligent, it is functioning non-stop 24/7 and obviously there are toxins that need to be eliminated. When these substances are not eliminated, they can cause irritation or inflammation of the cells and tissues, blocking normal functions on a cellular, organ and whole body level.

We have to listen to our bodies because they always try to tell us if something is wrong. An overloaded body will alert you that it is in a toxic state by sending out messages in the form of fatigue, gas, headaches, food cravings, constipation, food allergies, chronic pain, blood sugar imbalances, attention problems, premenstrual syndrome, poor sleep, acne and other skin problems, poor digestion, bad breath, etc.

Detox is a relative term, because anything that supports elimination can be said to help us detoxify. As a matter of fact, our body cleanses itself by an absolutely natural process. If the body is working well with good immune and eliminative system, we can handle the basic every day exposure to toxins. But sometimes we need to change our dietary (healthier food choices) and lifestyle (clearing toxins by sweating, either from exercise or heat) habits to reduce intake of toxins and improve elimination.

You may be amazed with the fact that simply drinking more water (filtered of course!) helps us eliminate more toxins. Shifting from the most congesting foods (sweets, diary products, bread, fats, fried foods, refined flours, meats, hydrogenated fats, drugs) to the least (fruits and vegetables, grains, nuts and legumes) can help most of us detoxify somewhat and bring us into balance in general.

And we don’t need an excuse to wait for spring to cleanse our bodies, we can do it using seasonable super foods, such as apples, beets, garlic, leafy greens, lemons, onions, radish, seaweed, turnip, watermelon, etc. We need to include these fantastic fruits and vegetables in our routine and use one or two every day. Why? Because these fruit and vegetables purify our blood, purify and protect our liver, cleanse the intestines, help excrete heavy metals, improve the cleansing function of the glands, purify our gastrointestinal GI tract. In case you have forgotten by now, we are talking about whole foods only- fruits and vegetables, not drugs or magic pills!!!! Amazing? Isn’t it? The power of food can make miracles!

As we can see, cleansing body will involve some dietary and lifestyle changes, but it doesn’t have to be a torture experience. Simply eating cleansing super foods every day can increase your energy, bolster your immune system and leave you with healthy routine to live by all year long.

We do need to cleanse our bodies not to become a toxic dump. The question is how far we should go, what type of cleansing will work for us. Well, it depends on our current diet, our physical state and energy level, in other words, it depends on our individual lifestyle and needs.

In Need of a Good Detox-Body Wrap Detox

A wrap, huh? Oh, yes a wrap! This is one method of detoxing your body. A body detox wrap is none other then… wrapping your body to rid chemicals and toxins. Okay, with that said and without further delay, let’s have a closer look.

Oh, for about $50 or so you can buy a body wrap detox kit. For the most part a body wrap detox removes the toxins from the fat that is found in your body and more so around your heart. This is known to be the most harmful to your body and is the most toxic. Not to mention, it can be linked to heart disease as well.

Did you know that the smell that you smell when you sweat is more than just dirt and ‘sweat’? Actually, sweat isn’t always smelly. It could be linked to toxins that are found in your body. Well this body wrap detox kit can eliminate that smell, thus removing the toxins from your body, through your skin.

There are other reasons why people use these body wrap detox kits and some of the reasons include:

* foot odor

* muscle pain

* skin cancer

* then you want to look for some skin conditions as well. They may include rashes, psoriasis, eczema, fungus, or even dry and cracking skin.

* rejuvenation

* better skin tone

* anti aging

There are many reasons why you want to do a body wrap detox. Ask yourself what your goal is in doing this. Could it be to lessen your muscle aches and pains? How about to lose all of that unwanted weight? Maybe you want to remove the cellulite and replenish your skin. With knowing the reason why you are doing the detox, it will enable you to know what type of ingredients that you will need for the body wrap detox.

You want to make sure that you have a pre wrap formula before you wrap to help open the pores and to get the most out of your body wrap detox experience. It is important to keep your body warm or this will not be of any effect at all.

What is contained in these body detox wraps is the capability to eliminate toxins through the skin with healing mud and seaweed clay. Make sure that you keep your body warm while wrapped. Make sure that you stay wrapped for at least 45 minutes to 2 hours.

Once you have kept this on for the correct amount of time, you will want to make sure that you use the correct post body wrap detox treatment. These are meant to close your pores in your skin and hydrate dry skin. Toxins will come through and you can also lose weight in this process as well.

You may want to check with your doctor or skin specialist before you start this detox. If you have skin ailments, such as psoriasis, fibromyalgia, or eczema it is especially wise to check into it first.

Body Detox Wrap – Detox From Your Inside Out

By John Khu

Many people when looking into detoxification practices forget that the skin is one of the biggest filters that the body has. It absorbs and releases huge amounts of toxins and is capable of being one of your biggest allies when it comes to the detoxification process. If you have been looking into ways of feeling younger, looking younger and losing weight you may have come across the body detox wrap. These are wraps that are designed to provide a way to encourage the release of toxins from the body by drawing them through the skin.

As toxins are released within the body, the body detox wrap encourages them to be drawn out through the skin and the remaining by product is then processed through the system. This is a great way to pull out toxins, which are easily removed through the skin but may be harder to remove through the process of detoxification through purges or dietary changes.

Detoxification is more than just about purging all the built up toxins within the body it is also about making sure that the organs that are used to help purify the body, of which the skin is one, is in good health and working order. A body detox wrap usually involves the placement of mineral rich clay, usually made from certain types of ash on the skin. It is then held in place with a variety of wraps. The type of wrap really depends on the type of detoxification process or the type that is used by the kit or facility you are obtaining services from.

You can have a full body detox wrap or just work on specific areas at a time. Full body detox wraps can be hard on the body since they can form a purgative effect as you are releasing toxins at a rapid rate from the body. This means that you can have similar side effects despite the fact that many say a body detox wrap is soothing and relaxing. This is more than likely true during the process but while many things including heavy metals are draw out through these body detox wrap processes it is the removal process, which continues usually for several days that can create the symptoms.

Body detox wrap options can provide you with a great way to use your skin to remove toxins from your body by drawing them directly out. This can show up as a greater visual result because the toxins are not going to be processed through the entire body as they are removed. They are simply going to be draw directly out. This does leave some by product namely what was used to store the toxins. In most cases fat is used to store non processed toxic substances in order to protect the body. This must then be removed however these by products are usually easier to remove when they are not holding on to a potential harmful substance.

Since there are side effects for some people you may want to consider attempting a partial body detox wrap in order to see how the process effects you before going for a full body detox wrap.
